Marathon Will Be Released As A Paid Title

Not F2P after all...

After the gameplay reveal for Marathon overnight, which confirmed the game’s September release date, it’s been confirmed that the game will not be adopting a free-to-play model, instead opting for a paid model.

Bungie was quick to respond to a report that the game would be “full-priced,” which, in this day and age, could mean anything between $60-80 USD by confirming the game wouldn’t be “full-priced” but that it would be treated as a title.

No official pricing has been confirmed yet, so players have been left speculating exactly what that’ll mean.

The decision is dividing the online audience who believe a paid release, on top of the confirmed battle and microtransactions, isn’t the best value proposition given Marathon is launching with only three maps with a fourth arriving shortly after launch.

Bungie confirmed that more pricing informationwould follow in the coming months.
