A Pokémon Legends: Z-A Trailer Just Dropped And It’s Still Coming Later This Year

Mega Evolution is back!

Another Pokémon Day means another Pokémon Presents. Alongside the reveal of Pokémon Champions, we also got a good look at the Pokémon Legends: Z-A. As the previous trailer suggested, it looks to be set in X and Y’s Lumiose City going through radical change. The game features Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile as the starter Pokémon.

Much like Pokémon Legends Arceus, the game seems to have a focus on battling and open-world exploration. We even see our trainer jumping from roof to roof throughout Lumiose City. Perhaps most exciting is the return of Mega Evolution, a fan favourite mechanic from the sixth generation of Pokémon games.

Despite the futuristic setting, Lumiose City is filled with Wild Zones where Pokémon can roam freely where you can battle and capture as you see fit. It also has a new battle system where positioning and leading your Pokémon through battles to avoid attacks is key to success. It seems like quite the change up and looks to incorporate some real time elements into its turn-based combat.

The game is set to launch in late 2025 for Nintendo Switch and will no doubt also come to the Nintendo Switch 2. Keep an eye out for more news on Pokémon Legends: Z-A over the coming months.
