WIN A NINTENDO SWITCH 2 CONSOLE

The Nintendo Switch 2 Specs Have Been Revealed And It’s A Pretty Big Bump

Big bump!

The Nintendo Switch 2 specs have been leaked for some time, but Digital Foundry has today confirmed exactly what the internals look like.

The Nintendo Switch 2 uses the NVIDIA T239 chip which uses Ampere technology and provides 1536 CUDA cores in comparison to just 256 available in the Nintendo Switch.

When it comes to system memory, it’s good news with 12gb total with 3gb used by the system and 9gb available for games (Series S has 8GB for example). This is a huge jump from the Nintendo Switch which has 0.8gb for system and 3.2gb available for games.

When it comes to docked vs undocked performance, it does look like there will be a decent discrepancy which isn’t hugely surprising given battery usage isn’t an issue when docked and Nintendo now targeting 4K.

This is very similar to the original Nintendo Switch with GPU clock speeds of 1007MHz when docked and 561Mhz when undocked, still a decent increase on the Nintendo Switch 1.

Something that Digital Foundry isn’t sure on is whether GameChat eats into the performance of gameplay, and that’s not something we’ll know until the system releases in a few weeks time.

Obviously, it’s hard to know how this will all shake out when it comes to real-world performance, as the Switch 2 will be using DLSS to maximise performance as well.
