The Nintendo Switch 2 Screen Has A Protective Layer That Shouldn’t Be Peeled

Nintendo Europe has posted the safety manual for the Nintendo Switch 2 online today and whilst there’s a bunch of safety precautions bout the upgraded Joy-Con controllers and the new kickstand, the one that stands out is in relation to the Nintendo Switch 2 screen.

Nintendo was very clear to warn s that the Nintendo Switch 2 screen is covered with a film layer that should not be peeled over. This is there to prevent the screen from shattering and is fairly standard on quite a lot of tech items.

Whilst this is essentially similar to a screen protector, Nintendo has confirmed that you can still put a screen protector over this (much like this one right here).

The bit in the manual reads: “The screen is covered with a film layer designed to prevent fragments scattering in the event of damage. Do not peel it off.”

This also seemed to be on the Nintendo Switch OLED, and is often applied to TVs and other glass screens to ensure that if it is damaged that it does not shatter and harm the .
