UPDATE: Nintendo has now detailed the free Nintendo Switch 2 game updates for the handful of OG Switch games.
Some games are getting resolution updates, some frame rate improvements and others HDR and some all 3. The list is below:
- ARMS – Resolution Bump + Framerate improvement + HDR
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – Resolution Bump + HDR
- Game Builder Garage – Resolution Bump + Mouse controls
- New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe – Resolution Bump
- Pokemon Scarlet/Violet – Resolution Bump + Framerate improvement
- Mario 3D World – Resolution Bump + Framerate improvement / HDR (Bowser’s Fury only)
- Super Mario Odyssey – Resolution Bump + HDR
- Zelda Echoes of Wisdom – Resolution Bump + HDR
- Zelda Link’s Awakening – Resolution Bump + HDR
ORIGINAL STORY: In addition to the handful of OG Nintendo Switch games that are getting Nintendo Switch 2 enhanced versions, Nintendo has also announced a handful of OG Switch games that are getting free Switch 2 updates.
The updates will differ for each of the games and add improved resolutions, frame rates or add s for features such as GameShare.
The one that stands out most on the list is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet which was one of the main games that was criticised for how it ran on the original Nintendo Siwtch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th for $699.95 in Australia.
