The Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube App Has Some Iconic Easter Eggs 6y2q2t

I was messing around with the Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube app yesterday for a video, and quickly discovered that the app has some pretty cool easter eggs. 422w4x

GameCube is my one Nintendo blind spot (I didn’t pick it up until it became $99 in Australia), so I had no idea that there were so many intro easter eggs, and the cool thing is that all of them have been carried over to the Nintendo Switch 2 app.

When you boot into the GameCube app, you’re greeted with just the stock standard red background with the GameCube controller, but you can actually get the GameCube intro to play (just as it was during the announcement) as well as all of the special unique intros as well.

All you have to do is hold any button (I find holding the analogue sticks easiest) to get the iconic intro to play, you can hold the R button to activate the squeaky toy/laughter version, and if you’ve got four controllers connected, you can hold the R button on all four with a Samurai sound effect.

HOW TO UNLOCK THE NINTENDO SWITCH 2 OG GAMECUBE INTRO 682z6c

  • MAIN INTRO: Hold any button (or analogue stick to the side) whilst launching the GameCube app
  • SQUEAKY TOY INTRO: Hold R whilst launching the GameCube app
  • SAMURAI INTRO: Connect four controllers whilst launching the GameCube app

At the time of launch there’s three GameCube games on the Nintendo Switch Online app, but we know that there’s a heap more on the way.
