Gears Reloaded, The Outer Worlds 2 & Ninja Gaiden 4 All Have Physical PS5 Copies

But not on Xbox

It’s been pretty well documented that Xbox is moving away from creating physical versions of games over the last few years, but with the Xbox Games Showcase taking place yesterday and it’s next batch of games going online for pre-order, we can now confirm that the rest of their games line-up for this year is getting physical copies on PS5, but nothing on Xbox.

This applies to Gears of War: Reloaded, The Outer Worlds 2 and Ninja Gaiden 4 which will all get physical PS5 versions, but no physical discs on Xbox.

The Outer Worlds 2: Edition and Ninja Gaiden 4: Deluxe Edition will both get in-store Xbox releases, but they’ll be codes in a box (whilst their PS5 counterparts will be on disc).

This does somewhat make sense given Xbox’s Play Anywhere strategy which means you can play your version of the game anywhere when you’ve got it on Game or digitally, but it’s still a little jarring to see the likes of Gears of War as a physical on PS5 but nothing on Xbox given it’s one of Xbox’s most iconic brands.
